It's easy to add.  All you have to do is sign-up for the service through our sign-up form and install the very small accelerator program on your computer.  You use the program to set your preferences on the accelerator.

This feature accelerates most web page text/html and graphics when compared to standard Dial-Up Internet Services but actual results may vary. This is because some web pages, such as secure or encrypted web pages, will not be accelerated.  Transmission of files, without limitation to the following, will not or can not be accelerated: MP3s and other Music Files (.wma, .wav, etc.), Executable Files and Encrypted Files.

Net Vista High-Speed Dial-Up is not a broadband service and therefore actual data transmission rates are not faster than standard Dial-Up Internet Services.  The speed improvements are based on the compression of the data being transmitted.  So instead of downloading a 10 kilobyte web page, it would be compressed so that the data actually being transferred over the line is just 1 or 2 kilobytes, resulting in a net speed increase of 5-10 times.  Of course, most web pages are a mix of pictures and text, so the net speed increase is usually limited to 5-7 times the performance of regular dial-up.

Net Vista High-Speed Dial-Up may not be compatible with proxy based software or services such as content filters or firewalls though our testing turned up no major issues with a number of popular products.
